Please find attached a significantly updated Program for this weekend’s SunSmart Nippers Qualifier. All of these changes have been implemented due to this weekend’s forecasted temperature.
• Start time has been bought forwarded with marshalling for first events at 6:45am
• Saturday’s program of events now has U10 & U11s starting on the beach and U12 & U13s doing Board Rescue. It is hoped, with this change, that many of the U10s will be finished around 9am.
• The Referee will determine how many competitors will be removed in each run through during the rounds and quarter finals of the Beach Flags. Due to the forecast this is highly likely to be three in the initial stages.
• Apart from the U11 Female Board Rescue only one run through of Board Rescues is required. The U11 Female Board Rescue may require heats and then quarter finals.
• Sunday’s program of events has Board Race first and the Ironwoman/Ironman afterwards. As there are more doing Board Races then Iron Races we are again hoping a shorter morning for some.
• On Sunday we are only planning one run through for competitors so there will only be a small number qualifying (minimum 3). Where 5 quarter finals are required we will be taking 5 through meaning 25 qualify.
• The Referee, Event Manager and Event Safety Officer will monitor the heat regularly throughout the weekend. If in their opinion it become too hot to proceed please note the event may be cancelled.
We remind everyone that the events to be contested this weekend are the ones that require qualification. There are other individual and team events at the Nipper Championships that do not require qualification and nonattendance this weekend does not preclude anyone from entering these events. Those that are attending are reminded to be SunSmart throughout.
