Current forecast for Sunday’s SunSmart Surf Carnival at Trigg is for strong southerly winds and around 2m swell.
If the Surf Hazard rating reaches 13 the referee will introduce compulsory wearing of helmets and S2 level sweeps will not be allowed to continue.
If your crew has an S2 sweep make arrangements for an S3 sweep to be ready to sweep you if the SHR reaches 13. We know from data collected that no matter how competent the crew and sweeps are that at SHR 17 accidents start to happen.
The referee can make adjustments to the format and who races, depending on the conditions at any time.
We are hoping the forecast changes for the better and we all get to race in challenging but not dangerous conditions, however we need clubs to be prepared and understand that officials will need to makedecisions to ensure safety of all.
