SunSmart Endurance Championships

27 Oct 2018 by Jason Wright

The Surf Life Saving competition season kicked off in style at Sorrento Beach with a great morning of racing.

The 300 plus competitors were greeted with perfect conditions for endurance racing. There was some really strong performances, particularly in the under 17s. Patrick Eley was a stand out performer winning two gold medals with dominant performances in both the Board and Ski races leading home a strong field and also recording the fastest Board time. Current Australian Under 15 Ironman champ Will Savage had to settle for two silvers behind Patrick as well as picking up a third silver medal in the 2km swim.

The first SunSmart Nipper Gold was a great success with the following athletes claiming victory
Under 12 Male Champion - Brodie Lee (Mullaloo)
Under 12 Female Champion - Luna Harrison (Trigg)
Under 13 Male Champion - Jules Fredonnet (Trigg)
Únder 13 Female Champion - Rubie Turner (Secret Harbour)

Thanks to everyone with their patience and understanding for the first full scale trial of the new carnival management system. We are now really excited, following a few, tweaks to see the system fully operational at the Surf Carnivals this summer.

Don’t forget to tie your new band to your competition cap so you remember to bring it to the first SunSmart Senior Carnival at Fremantle on the 11 November.

The full results from the Endurance Championships will be posted on TeamApp tomorrow.
